If you've installed WordPress on your domain and you need to change the WordPress URL (e.g., from a temporary URL to your actual domain), you can follow these steps:

  1. Login to WordPress Admin Dashboard: Access your WordPress admin dashboard by visiting http://yourdomain.com/wp-admin/ and log in using your credentials.

  2. Navigate to Settings > General: In the WordPress admin dashboard, go to "Settings" and then click on "General".

  3. Update WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL): You'll see fields labeled "WordPress Address (URL)" and "Site Address (URL)". Update both of these fields with your new domain name. Make sure to use your actual domain name, e.g., http://yourdomain.com.

  4. Save Changes: Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the "Save Changes" button to apply the new settings.

  5. Update .htaccess File (if necessary): In some cases, you may need to update your .htaccess file if you're experiencing issues with URL redirections. You can do this manually via FTP/SFTP or use a plugin like "WP htaccess Control" to regenerate the .htaccess file.

  6. Update Permalinks (Optional): It's a good practice to update your permalinks structure after changing your site URL. You can do this by navigating to Settings > Permalinks and simply clicking "Save Changes" to update the permalinks structure.

  7. Update URLs in the Database (if necessary): In some cases, you may need to update URLs in your WordPress database, especially if you've hardcoded URLs in your content or if URLs are stored in serialized data. You can use search and replace plugins like "Better Search Replace" or "Velvet Blues Update URLs" to safely update URLs in your database.

  8. Test Your Site: After making these changes, make sure to thoroughly test your website to ensure that everything is working as expected. Check different pages, posts, and functionalities to ensure that there are no broken links or issues.

By following these steps, you should be able to successfully change the WordPress URL to your new domain name.
