If an email was sent but not received by the recipient, several things could have happened on the server side:

  1. Delivery Failure: The email might have bounced due to an incorrect email address, full inbox, or the recipient's mail server being down. In such cases, the sender usually receives a bounce-back message indicating the failure and the reason for it.

  2. Spam or Junk Folder: The email could have been flagged as spam by the recipient's email provider and automatically moved to their junk or spam folder. This often happens if the email content or sender is flagged as suspicious by spam filters.

  3. Server Delays: Sometimes, delays in email delivery occur due to server issues or heavy email traffic. The email might eventually be delivered after some time.

  4. Blacklisting: If your server's IP address or domain is blacklisted, emails sent from it might be blocked or rejected by the recipient’s mail server.

  5. Configuration Issues: Misconfigurations on the sending or receiving mail servers can cause emails to be dropped or not delivered. This could include issues with DNS settings, SPF, DKIM, or DMARC records.

  6. Network Issues: Temporary network issues between the sending and receiving servers could result in delayed or lost emails.

In any of these cases, checking your email server logs or using email delivery tools can help diagnose the issue. If the problem persists, contacting your email provider or IT department might be necessary.
