If you use a Microsoft 365 Business Email account, you can change your email password yourself without contacting support, provided self-service password changes are enabled for your organization. This password is used to sign in to Microsoft 365 services such as Outlook, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Word, Excel, and other Microsoft 365 applications.
Before You Begin
Make sure you know your current password.
If you have forgotten your password, please see the section Forgot Your Password? below.
Step 1: Open Your Microsoft 365 Account
Open the Microsoft 365 My Account portal:
https://myaccount.microsoft.com/
Sign in using your Microsoft 365 Business Email address and current password.
For example:
[email protected]
Step 2: Open Change Password
After signing in:
- Look for Change Password in the left-hand menu.
- Click Change Password.
Microsoft's current My Account portal provides a dedicated option for changing a known work or school account password.
Step 3: Enter Your Password Details
You will see the password change screen.
Enter:
- Old password – Your current Microsoft 365 password
- New password – Your new password
- Confirm new password – Enter your new password again
Make sure your new password meets your organization's Microsoft 365 password requirements.
Step 4: Submit the Password Change
Click Submit.
Your Microsoft 365 password will be changed.
You may be asked to sign in again using your new password.
Step 5: Sign In Again
After changing your password, use the new password when signing in to:
- Outlook Web
- Outlook Desktop
- Outlook Mobile
- Microsoft Teams
- OneDrive
- Microsoft 365 applications
- Other services connected to your Microsoft 365 account
If Outlook or another application continues asking for your old password, sign out and sign in again using your new password.
